 | Well, the callendar now says 2010. Last year is one that will be remembered for many years to come. Harvest is almost completed - (I hate to even mention that). Grain prices have tumbled with the last government report that showed record yields. The grain market was offering $4 corn and $9.50 beans prior to the report for fall 2010 delivered grain. With the decline in inputs - those prices would work. If we get a rally this spring - don't let profitable prices slip through your hands twice.
The Spring ammonia season looks to be a challenge. With very little applied in the corn belt last fall - all of it will need to go on this spring. TriCounty FS is planning on operating at least 6 custom ammonia tractors this spring season. Talk to your Crops Specialist if you would like us to apply some of your ammonia.
As the conditions allow - please let us get your dry fertilizer applied. Anything we get done this winter will help next spring. If we need to have a driver in a dry tender and pulling ammonia tanks - they can't be two places at the same time. We can spread dry fertilizer on frozen ground - but we can't apply ammonia. Please help us out where you can! | | Last years we started a yield contest called the "80 Bushel Challenge" for soybeans. We had a winner with 82 bushels per acre. High soybean yield are possible - but they take high management. In 2010 we are going to continue with the bean yield contest and we are adding a "300 Bushel Challenge" corn yield contest. There are few rules to the contest - but this is truly one of those things that is a win -win. If you win, you are happy with the results and we are happy that the cropping programs that we recommend worked on your farm. See Tim Walsh or Jess Range for details on these two programs. |
There are seasonal patterns in most commodities. Sell corn when the market has plenty and they don't bid up as much. Normall, this is a good time to fill your fuel tanks. Usually, you want to have things topped off by the end of February or first part of March. TriCounty FS recommends that you get your tanks full in the next 30 days. 9 out of 10 years the market takes off in March when the weather starts to warm up. While your at it - check your oil and filter supply. This is a great time of year to re-supply your shop with the lubricants and filtration that you need to keep your engines running at peak performance.
TriCounty FS offers the absolute best fuel and lubricants that you can buy to protect your diesel engines! Talk with your Energy Salesman to make sure you are ready to go this spring.
Only 60 days until planting? Is that possible? Lets hope for a normal and dryer spring in 2010! |
